Franco-Belges carefully selects the finest 6-row barley for their roasted malts in order to ensure the highest quality aroma and flavor. Their Coffee Malt is a somewhat unique specialty grain in that it is under 200˚L but can be used to contribute subtle roasty and coffee-ish notes. This is something you would usually have to use a higher Lovibond grain for. Lighter than Pale Chocolate malt and with a more subtle contribution of chocolate and coffee notes, Coffee malt is sure to make an excellent addition to any dark beer! We recommend keeping this grain in the 1-10% range when putting together your grain bill.
