Murphy & Rude is an independently owned and operated malting company located in Charlottesville, VA. They are committed to working with small and local farms in order to source the highest quality and freshest grain possible. They operate on a very small scale and specialize in specialty malts designed to deliver maximum color and flavor.
Slightly over-modified during germination, stewed, but then cured at higher kiln temps to more than double the color of our Vienna. This malt is just enzymatic enough to be the backbone of any malt-forward beer but also robust enough to play backup, adding body at just 10-15% of grist.
