The Whethersfield Red type onion is a historic onion variety developed in the 1700s. It was named for a town in Connecticut and experienced widespread fame for many decades in the farming community. Whethersfield's are a long day onion with an excellent red color. They have a flat, squat/round shape and are prized for their storage and culinary uses. Popular in salads and on burgers. This fine grained variety yields well.
