Description
Cover cropping is one of the best passive improvements you can make to your gardening practices. Allowing gardens to sit barren has a series of negative impacts on the soil and environment. Using cover crops can improve soil health, prevent erosion, add organic matter, attract pollinators, promote and feed your soil biology, increase tilth, sequester atmospheric carbon, and suppress weeds!
Our House Cover Crop Blend is formulated to do a little bit of everything! 1 lb will cover up to 200 square feet.
Oats: helps prevent erosion, scavenge nutrients, suppresses weeds, and adds biomass
Deep Till Radish: sends down a long taproot, helping to break compacted soils and scavenge nutrients, adds biomass
Crimson Clover: fixes nitrogen and helps build soil
Winter Peas: a great nitrogen fixer and helps build biomass
We recommend sowing primarily in the fall from mid-September through mid-October. It can be sown later than that, but the radish may not take. We have also sown this as a warm weather cover crop. Given the blend, something will take and grow!
All of our cover crops are untreated and non-GMO.
