Cover cropping is one of the best passive improvements you can make to your gardening practices. Allowing gardens to sit barren has a series of negative impacts on the soil and environment. Using cover crops can improve soil health, prevent erosion, add organic matter, attract pollinators, promote and feed your soil biology, increase tilth, sequester atmospheric carbon, and suppress weeds!
All of our cover crops are untreated and non-GMO.
Variety: Organic Austrian Winter Peas
Benefits: Winter peas are one of our favorite cover crops! They are excellent nitrogen producers and generators of biomass/green manure. They also have beautiful flowers and grow rapidly, thus suppressing weeds.

When to plant: After summer heat, late August/early fall. Soil temps above 40˚F
