Using cover crops can improve soil health, prevent erosion, add organic matter, attract pollinators, promote and feed your soil biology, increase tilth, sequester atmospheric carbon, and suppress weeds!
All of our cover crops are untreated and non-GMO.
Variety: Organic Winter Rye
Benefits: Winter rye establishes quickly in order to prevent wind/rain erosion. They also put out an extensive root system that prevents compaction and promotes tilth. Drought tolerant and capable of germinating at very cold temps.
Application Rate: 2.5 lbs per 1,000 sq ft
When to plant: Fall through winter, soil temp above 34˚F
Hardiness: -30˚F if established
