Monterey Garden Insect Spray relies on Spinosad in order to treat a wide range of garden pests and insects. Spinosad is an all natural compound derived from a species of soil dwelling bacteria. It is safe for use in the presence of certain beneficial insects, although it is toxic to bees. So, be sure you are applying late in the evening when they are inactive and flowers have usually closed up. Spinosad acts on the central nervous system of insects and results in paralysis followed by death. It can sometimes take a day or two for the insects to fall off treated plants. So, don't mistake the continued presence of insects on treated plants for pest activity.
Monterey Garden Insect Spray does not significantly impact predatory beneficial insects, predatory mites, and spiders.
Pests controlled: Leafrollers, Leafminers, Moths (various species), Thrips, Asparagus beetles, Caterpillars, Loopers, Colorado potato beetle, Flea beetle, Armyworm, Cabbage worm, Sawfly, Fire ants, and much more.
